What Is GriefShare’s Loss of a Spouse?

The death of a spouse brings a unique kind of pain. People who are widowed haven’t just lost a loved one—they’ve lost an entire lifestyle. GriefShare’s Loss of a Spouse is a two-hour seminar designed to offer support to grieving spouses. Based on a typical GriefShare meeting or a Surviving the Holidays event, it offers a short video presented by experts in the field—Christian counselors, authors and pastors—as well as spouses working through their own grieving process. The video is followed by small-group discussion and further supported with a booklet offering multiple strategies including devotional materials, grief recovery exercises, and journal prompts.

If you or someone you know is struggling following the loss of a spouse, this may be just the added support needed.

Our next Loss of a Spouse session will be scheduled soon.  If the current schedule at Summerville Presbyterian does not fit your need, other locations for this event will be available at various times and listed on the GriefShare website.  Registration is required through the website GriefShare.org. On the site's homepage, type in your zip code and click on "Find A Group". Then scroll down to find the listings for Loss of a Spouse and select an appropriate offering.  You will need to purchase your booklet as you register.

Once scheduled, SPC's Loss of a Spouse will be held in person in the Dorchester Room located on the breezeway immediately to the right of the Sanctuary on S. Laurel Street in Summerville.  Parking is available directly in front of the meeting room.
