Meals on Wheels of Summerville, Inc. is a community sponsored program which was founded on June 28, 1982.  This church’s former pastor, Rev. Buddy Craig, was a founding board member.  Meals on Wheels receives no government funds, is not a United Way agency, but may receive individuals’ designated pledges through United Way’s Donor Choice program.  It is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.   The mission of Meals on Wheels is to provide home delivered nutritious mid-day meal service for the elderly or others who are homebound, isolated, or incapacitated to the extent that good food preparation is impossible.  Currently the number served is approximately 175 per day.  Each week over 200 volunteers fulfill this mission by preparing and delivering approximately 800 meals.  $1,000.00 will serve 1 person for 1 year.
