• SPC’s Director of Music, William Bennett, is also the Director of Choirs at Cane Bay High School. He was selected as one of 10 finalists for the 2015 GRAMMY Music Educator Award, and was the 2009-2010 Cane Bay High School Teacher of the Year. He has led clinics on leadership in a music classroom, choral techniques, and sight-singing for SCMEA and SCACDA, and has served as a choral clinician for SCMEA Middle School SSA and SATB Clinics. He is a member of ACDA, NAfME, and SCMEA, and served on the South Carolina Department of Education’s Visual and Performing Arts Standards Revision Committee revising the SC High School Choral Music Curriculum Guide.

    William holds a Masters Degree in Music: Choral and Orchestral Conducting from Louisiana State University where he studied conducting with Dr. Kenneth Fulton, Dr. Sara Lynn Baird and Dr. Julian Shew. While there he also served as the Director of the LSU Tiger Glee Club and as a Graduate Assistant. William performed as a guest conductor, choir member and soloist with the LSU A Cappella Choir, LSU Schola Cantorum, LSU Chamber Singers and the LSU Orchestra.

    William holds a BA in Music: Vocal Performance from the College of Charleston where he graduated Cum Laude. He was the inaugural recipient of the Charleston Men’s Chorus Scholarship at the College of Charleston. He studied conducting with Dr. Robert Taylor and voice with Mrs. Deanna McBroom and Mr. Ross Magoulas. At the College he also served as the Student Assistant Conductor of the College of Charleston Concert Choir and Madrigal Singers.
